Custom PedalSnakeCS

.

For special needs, Custom PedalSnakeCS models can be ordered with features not available in standard BaseSnakes.  Most of the time, a Custom is needed to get a 7pin MIDI line (7wire channel), or to get a BaseSnake longer than 24 feet (you can get up to 30 feet with Custom).

Get Custom GLines (2 Ways)

Plug n Play  Make plug'n'play 1/4" GLines (GuitarLines) from a channel and a GLine Pigtail 2-Pack

  • Order a 3wire or 5wire channel on your Custom PedalSnakeCS for each plug'n'play GLine you want (see Channel Types).
  • Plug in a GLine Pigtail at each end of the channel, and you have a GLine.
  • The advantage of plug'n'play GLines is that they can be reconfigured if your rig changes.

Hardwired  Order your GLine hardwired and ready-to-go (no Pigtails needed).  While this may be a "cleaner" option, with no Pigtails involved, it does not reconfigure easily.  So only order hardwired GLines that you are sure you will always need.

  • Choose from several hardwired 1/4" GLine options in the Custom CS Menu.  They are also shown at the bottom of this page.
  • These will come with a 1/4" plug (at each end of your Custom PedalSnake), and act just like a guitar cord.

NOTE  Hardwired GLines are no more reliable than plug'n'play.  They will produce less "extra" cable around your pedals, but plug'n'play lines (with Pigtails) are easily tied off and hidden if you use a Pedaltrain pedalboard.

About Fanouts

The fanout lengths you choose with your Custom PedalSnakeCS depend on how far apart the connections must reach.  If you have a large pedalboard, you need longer fansouts at the Pedal End.  If you have and amp head and a rack at the backline, your Amp End fans may need to be longer.  Remember, fanouts effectively become 15" longer when you add a Single plug'n'play Pigtail.  A Dual Pigtail has a "split" with two 15" lengths, so at the end of your choosen fanout length, you have nearly a 30" spread (from the Dual's split).

It is best to keep fanouts at 36" or less.  Long fanouts are hard to coil up, especially if your Custom has many lines and channels.  If you need to reach further than 36" to get to all the 1/4" connections in your rig, consider making short 1/4" extensions (male to female).  For example, if you have one 1/4" input to reach at the top of an ampstack, use an extension and keep that with the amp head.  Then your Custom PedalSnakeCS can have an "easy to coil" 24" fan, and reach everything easily without straining.

Order by Filling Out and returning our our Custom CS Menu

  • See About the Cable and Pairs Used.
  • As with standard BaseSnakes, plan for a bit more length and a few more channels than you need right now (rigs tend to change)---we recommend at least one spare 3-wire channel.
  • Please be sure you are familiar with PedalSnake and the info this site.
  • All Custom CS sales are final.

NOTE . PLines on Custom PedalSnakeCS models must be made with a DIN channel and a PLine Pigtail.

About Cable "Pairs"

PedalSnakeCS models are made from our proprietary multi-pair cables, available in 4- and 8-pair (an example of 4-pair is shown above).

Custom PedalSnakeCS channels and lines are made from wire pairs in the multi-pair cable.

  • The number of pairs needed to make your Custom PedalSnake determines which multi-pair cable we use.
    • Cable with 4 or 8 pairs is available.
    • For a clean look, any unused pairs are "cut short" and covered with shrink tubing.
    • Example:  You need 6 pairs to make all your Custom channels and lines.  We will use 8-pair cable, and cut 2 pairs of short, where they will remain hidden inside the outer jacket.

To calculate the number of pairs you will need, see the table below (or just wait to see your quote from us).
