What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect transactional data, such as purchase information; and personal data, such as user account information. When you purchase from us, we'll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, and account information like username and password. We'll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Set up your account for our store
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings
  • Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them (if you check the "Newsletter" box when you register for an account)

Note that we do not receive credit card numbers. Those are sent directly to our payments provider Authorize.net. Their privacy policy is available at https://www.authorize.net/company/privacy/.

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for seven years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.

We collect IP addresses for analytics and site reliability purposes and any information entered in the contact form. For more information on analytics data collection, please see the "Cookies" and "Analytics" sections below. Hosting logs collect IP addresses and pages visited.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the blog we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

On the blog, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

Our e-commerce store uses cookies to keep track of cart contents while you're browsing our site. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up a cookie to save your login information. This cookie contains no personal data. If you log out of your account or close your browser, the login cookie will be removed. We also use a cookie to save your preference for using the mobile or desktop ("classic") site.

If you leave a comment on our blog you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Cookies are also used by Google Analytics. Google's IP Anonymization feature is used anonymize the IP address as soon as technically feasible by removing the last octet of the IP address before storage and processing begins.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds, and support you, including technical support.

Who we share your data with

Google receives analytics data. IP addresses are anonymized as mentioned above in the "Cookies" section. Hosting logs are stored at our web hosting provider Page Progressive. Their privacy policy is available at http://www.pageprogressive.com/privacy-policy/

The US Postal Service (USPS) receives addresses (zipcode/postal code, country, and state/province, but not your street address), as well as the weight and price of your order for the purpose of calculating shipping cost. Our credit card payment provider, Authorize.net, receives credit card information. Their privacy policy is available at https://www.authorize.net/company/privacy/.

We also accept payments through PayPal. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to PayPal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. How long we retain your data

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months.

Hosting logs are retained for one year.

If you leave a comment on the blog, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website and blog (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

We are located in the United States. Our web site is hosted in the United States as well. By using this website, you understand and consent to the collection, storage, processing, and transfer of your information to our facilities in the United States and those third parties with whom we share it as described in this policy. We may have to share your data with government authorities as required by law or legally necessary, such law enforcement requests or subpoenas.

What third parties we receive data from

We may receive data from Google AdWords and Doubleclick. We may also receive data from Google Analytics.

Choice/Consent
By entering personally identifiable information, the user is granting PedalSnake.com and Stage Magic, Inc. rights to its use. Any user that has entered his/her personal information will be able to update or delete by making a follow-up request through the by emailing sales2@pedalsnake.com. If a user deletes or changes his/her information, only the new information will be kept.

Integrity/Security
It is technically possible for personally identifiable information (not credit card data which is sent securely) to be intercepted in transit since email is by its very nature an insecure medium, and as such, no guarantees can be made to the privacy of any information emailed to us.

The PedalSnake.com and Stage Magic, Inc. reserves the right to change its privacy policy at any time. When changes are made, notice will be posted on the site.
