MIDI in PedalSnake

.

Bare BaseSnake Channels are MIDI Lines

If you need a 5pin DIN MIDI cable with 3 wires

3 wires is all that is needed to pass MIDI signal. Of course, you may not know if the cable you are using is 3- or 5-wire. So look at your device, and see if it needs phantom power, or MIDI "out", or "thru" in the single cable.
  • For a 3wire MIDI line, use any BaseSnake channel, 3wire or 5wire.
  • For guitarists, this applies mainly to MIDI footcontrollers that receive power from a source outside the MIDI cable.

If you have a 5pin DIN MIDI cable with 5 wires

  • Use a white 5wire channel in your BaseSnake. It functions as a standard MIDI cable.
  • In addition to the 3 wires needed for MIDI signal, the extra 2 wires can provide "phantom power", or MIDI "out" or "thru", etc.
  • For guitarists, this applies mainly to MIDI footcontrollers that require phantom power thru the MIDI cable.

.NOTE 1

White 5wire channels in PedalSnake meet the standard 5wire MIDI specification. But, in order to be used for audio and power, our 5wire channels have extra features. So standard MIDI cables may not always work well with PedalSnake's G-Line or P-Line Pigtails, or in other BaseSnake channel applications.,.
